As some of you have discovered, we have added a Members Directory to our Members section within the web site.  This directory allows our members to decide if they want to display their name, picture and contact information for access by our members only.  This should help our members to lookup folks that might be available to play pickleball as well as other social opportunities.

To add your information to the directory, use the Edit Profile menu selection and scroll down to the Members Directory Information section.  First, fill in the first field “Included in the Members Directory”, if you select to be included, then the following data elements will be used to display the contact information.  Next, answer the question for what is your preferred contact method.  This will guide someone contacting you on how you would like to be reached.  Finally, you need to fill in the members directory information listed below on what you would like to be displayed. If the data element is not filled in, it won’t be displayed. Be sure to enter, at a minimum, your preferred contact method data.

The blue square with a sideways “G” represents a place marker for your picture.  It is referred to as an Avatar.  Our website platform uses an application called Gravatar to manage your picture.  This is a website that allows users to manage their own pictures to be used in a variety of websites including ours.  If you would like to load your picture to our website, you need to register on the Gravatar website and load your picture.  The following Youtube video provides instructions on how to use the Gravatar website - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-cs9ceqWiI. The advantage to using this is your picture will load immediately.

For those who do not feel comfortable with using the Gravatar application, we are offering an alternative method.  You can email your attached picture to hocopball@gmail.com with the subject “Profile Picture”.  This is a more labor-intensive process and may not happen right away but eventually it will get loaded.

Note, there does appear to be one problem that’s been brought to my attention; some people’s phone numbers are appearing as dates.  It may be that the phone number needs to be entered with dashes but I’m not sure.  I’m investigating this issue.

Hope this directory helps with association communication!
