23 Ladder League @ WRP

The Ladder League will pit players of similar skill on a given court. You’ll play three matches to 11 or 15 minutes whichever comes first, one with each of the other players on your court. The best two players move up, other two move down. 6 matches per week. You start play the following week based on your 2nd pool of matches from the week before.

The league will start 11/11 and run 5 weeks until 12/16 (no play on 11/25). It will include 5 weeks of play. The winner on Court 1 will be the champion after week 5.
Play will be from 12-2 PM on Saturdays at Western Regional Park. There will be a max of 32 people. A DUPR of 3.5 or better is recommended. Subs will be allowed of similar skills. Individual sign-ups only.
All matches will be recorded in DUPR. You must have a DUPR account established. You must also be a club member of HCPA within the DUPR app (we can help you establish a DUPR account).
The cost will be $25 per person. League rules will be shared after signup opens. Register on TeamApp under "Leagues" to "purchase a ticket" by 11/9.

HALLOWEEN Pickleball at Western Regional Park

HCPA members Lisa Babock and Teresa Love have volunteered to assist Howard County Rec & Park in organizing some Halloween Pickleball fun at:

Western Regional Park on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 from 6pm to 10pm (16 courts, yes there are lights, cost is $5).

Costumes are optional. Feel free to bring a snack to share for a courtside potluck.

News Update: 10/14/23

The JOOLA Tournament is off to a great start despite various changes due to rainy weather. As a result we need some help:

SUNDAY: we need help drying the courts at Owen Brown Sunday morning (squeegees, towels, blowers-whatever is needed). We may also need to re-tape courts. We will start drying courts at 7am. We hope to have the courts dry so "Mixed Doubles" can play. Please signup on the Volunteer Signup Genius (or just show-up!). We really need you!
MONDAY: Some players may not be able to play on Monday. If you are interested in being a potential sub for Monday, please email: birdiesbox@gmail.com Subject: JOOLA SUB and include your name, phone number and level/rating. When I receive your email I will add your name to the sub list (which we will consult if needed).

Parking at Western Regional Park

The Pickleball courts at Western Regional Park (WRP) are open for play until 10:30pm however the parking lots close at dusk.

If you plan to play at WRP after dusk, be sure to park your vehicle outside of the gates to the park (park near the library or the Glenwood Community Center). Otherwise your vehicle will be locked inside the park when the gates close at dusk.

10/1/23 - News Update

OCTOBER WOMENS LEAGUE-Western Regional Park!
Register now! League play starts this week

The Women's league will start Thursday, 10/5 and run for 6 week until 11/9. It will include 5 weeks of play and a final week of playoffs. Play will be from 5-7pm on Thursday evenings at Western Regional Park (WRP).

There will be a max of 16 teams/32 people. Subs of similar skill will be allowed. Individual sign-ups are allowed. If you have a partner, you can identify them during the signup. All matches will be recorded in DUPR.

The cost is $25 per person. League rules will be shared after signup. To sign-up to to TeamApp, tap "Schedule", tap "Leagues", tap on Thursday, October 5th to see the Women's league where you can "purchase tickets". Joola Maryland Open - 2022

Dates: October 14-16

Location: Owen Brown Tennis Club

Format: Round Robin - with playoffs

The informational website is live on PickleballTournaments.com, and registration for the tournament is scheduled to begin June 28th.

HCPA members receive a $10 discount during registration. To receive the discount you will need to list our club in your profile. There is a page in your profile setup to do this. When selecting the club drop-down menu please look at the top of the list for "Howard County Pickleball Association, MD". After you complete the registration, the club will appear as HCPA.
