As we approach the colder Winter weather we should take advantage of every warm opportunity to play. Combine that with this being a holiday week and I would like to invite everyone to a pickleball event I am calling "The Turkey Swap Bowl." This will be play with a couple of twists. First twist is to play with your non-dominant hand. Everyone knows that I switch hands when I play and I thought it might be fun to see how everyone does using the hand that is normally at your side. Naturally I will be coordinating the play and not playing. The second twist is that each side will only get one server. Lose the point and it will be side out. You only have to call two numbers before serving instead of three. This is how scoring goes in singles play. You will be surprised how this scoring is so much simpler than our normal scoring system. I will also have some other fun elements to this play so come out and enjoy the warm day. Normal skill levels should be out the window for this play!

In an effort to determine how many pickleball players would like to play each day at each location Sonny Tannan would like to start an email list that helps him communicate with players on how many courts will be set up and how many players are interested in playing each day. To get on Sonny's email list fill out the survey form on this link. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdpg6VDLK1k7NW4rCV8tkGdPQxBnj4keglRRM5VpvOxI0NXQw/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1

Now that the weather is turning colder pickleball players are looking to determine where to play indoors. The Columbia Association now has some new locations to play indoors for both members and non members. These drop In sessions are meant for any level of player to have the ability to "drop in" and play. Each 2 hr session can include basic instruction, rules, scoring and strategy followed by game play. Please remember, just because you come out to play, doesn't mean you necessarily get a court to yourself for the entire 2 hr session. The Association wants to work with the Columbia Association to make this new resource as successful as possible. Having said that we will be working through a process of determining when there is the most interest in playing. We don't want to have pickleball courts set up and not enough player show up to play or the opposite that too many player show up for the courts available. Right now we will only have 2 pickleball courts set for play at these times: *Long Reach Tennis Club - M, W, F from 8 - 10am and 10am - 12pm* *Columbia Athletic Club - Th, F from 12 - 2pm and 2pm - 4pm* I have created a Doodle to gauge what the interest is in playing in each time slot. Go to this Doodle link and indicate the times and locations you would most like to play. doodle.com/poll/npre2sxfm3tpuk2x Here is the cost to play: Play membership- $3 Fit and Play--$3 Other CA plans-$4 Columbia Card holders (non CA members but live on CA assessed property) -$5 Non Columbia resident or assessed resident- $6
