Annual Meeting: The association board has decided to change the plans for our annual meeting. Our new plans are to rent the Owen Brown Tennis Club PB courts for Thursday, June 20th, (tentative date - waiting for confirmation) from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. We will have a quick meeting later in the evening. We are still planning to have a pot luck dinner but the association will also be ordering pizza to go along with what others bring. We are continuing to request a nominal $5 donation to help cover the cost of the facility and the pizza. It was thought we would get a better turn out if we included pickleball. Social Event: Our Association will be planning a one or two day trip this coming fall to play with the Ocean Pines Pickleball Club (OPPC). The two dates we are looking at are Sept 14-15 or Sept 21-22/ The OPPC has 8 outdoor dedicated pickleball courts. We have could drive out early Saturday morning considering it's a 3 hour trip. We would play the late morning around 10 am to about 1 pm. This leaves the afternoon open to other options including lunch with the OPPC players. We could head to Ocean City Maryland for dinner and drinks. Those who want to drive home on Saturday could do so or the other option is to stay overnight in Ocean City and repeat play on Sunday morning and then head home Sunday afternoon. The cost is $5.00 per person per day to play at their courts. There are all levels of players at the OP club. We would like to know who would be interested in a trip like this to Ocean Pines and Ocean City Maryland. Pickleball Classic Tournament: Once again the Howard County Recreation & Parks will be hosting their annual PB Classic Tournament the first weekend in August, 8/3 & 8/4 (Correction made to date). Our association is preparing to meet with Amanda Bartell from HCR&P to discuss how we can assist in this tournament. We are polling our members to find out approximately how many people would be available and willing to volunteer to assist this effort. We thought it prudent to poll our members first to ensure we have enough people to offer as volunteers when we meet with Amanda. The Maryland Senior Olympics is also requesting our association for volunteers to assist in the event. This will be held the weekend of August 17th & 18th. If you are available and willing to assist in this event, please use the following doodle to sign-up.

Promoting our association: This coming Sunday, June 2nd, our association will be manning a booth to promote Pickleball as part of the Family Wellness Day planned for Centennial Park between 10am and 3pm. Several of our members have volunteered to man our table and tell others of the great sport we are involved in. We plan to setup a net and do some dinking as a way to demonstrate pickleball.
