HCPA News Update – 9/4/19

PB Potluck Social - At present we have only 9 people signed up for our Thursday evening social.  This could be due to a variety of reasons, such as, the recent holiday gathering, schools are starting up or last chance vacations.  It is also possible that not everyone is using the doodle since this is a new twist.  In any case, to entice more people to attend, the association has decided to offer the purchase of pizza this time around.  You are welcome to bring some food to share as well.  Please bring your preferred beverage.  

The location of the social is the Owen Brown Tennis Club and the time is 4:30 pm to 7:30pm.

The Thurs. evening drop-in session at Locust Park will be cancelled as we have done in the past.

September Tournaments - There is still time to sign up for some of the Sept. tournaments. 

Please enter the doubles tournament with your partners name and email address; sending this to both Joe & Steve's email address (as shown below.
Entries for the men's tournament closes on 9/9, the mixed tournament on 9/16 and the Ice Rink event on 9/23.
At present no one has signed up for the Ice Rink event.  This is intended as a fun and relaxed tournament style event being offered to the players who typically play at the Ice Rink.  Any combination of two players can enter as a team and we will conduct a round robin type playoff between them.  We are offering this to our novice players as a way to try something new.  If you have any questions please contact Joe Beitz, our Tournament Director.
The cost is $10.00 per team and play will be round robin style.  Please pay in cash at the event.

National Grandparents Day PB Event - Our association is partnering with Columbia Association to help celebrate National Grandparents Day with a special "Play with your Grandparent" Pickleball session planned for Sunday, Sept 8th from 4 pm to 7pm.  CA is hosting this at the Owen Brown Tennis Club PB courts and HCPA is donating money to purchase pizza's for the attendees.  We are hoping some of our members would be willing to support this effort.  We setup a Doodle to track how many members were planning to attend.  The doodle link is:
