An Additional Resource - Jay McTighe, a member of HCPA, has graciously offered to create and support a new webpage on our website called Player Development. With the assistance of his daughter Maria Alcoke, who is the co-founder of MariaVida Creative - a full service web & design agency; they have created both a public offering and a members only offering. Here's Jay's announcement for this:
The Mission of the Howard County Pickleball Association includes a provision to “promote and teach all ages” the game of pickleball. To that end, HCPA has added a page to its website for PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. This page is located under the MEMBERS menu item. This page will initially include three components:
1) A compilation of links to more than 200 instructional videos on a variety of pickleball skills, from basic to advanced;
2) a list of links to articles offering tips and strategies to support player development and enjoyment of the game; and
3) a link to an updated list of Places to Play in the area.
Evening Sessions are Ending - With the time change happening this Saturday, we will be stopping the evening sessions until next spring.
PickleBoo 2023 Pictures - See the pictures from that night's event listed on the website under the Photo's menu item.
Reminder - Halloween at Western Regional Park. See the news article in Stack Team App for details.

The JOOLA Tournament is off to a great start despite various changes due to rainy weather. As a result we need some help:
- SUNDAY: we need help drying the courts at Owen Brown Sunday morning (squeegees, towels, blowers-whatever is needed). We may also need to re-tape courts. We will start drying courts at 7am. We hope to have the courts dry so "Mixed Doubles" can play. Please signup on the Volunteer Signup Genius (or just show-up!). We really need you!
- MONDAY: Some players may not be able to play on Monday. If you are interested in being a potential sub for Monday, please email: birdiesbox@gmail.com Subject: JOOLA SUB and include your name, phone number and level/rating. When I receive your email I will add your name to the sub list (which we will consult if needed).
- MONDAY: Since some events will carry into Monday, we need volunteers to assist Monday. Please signup on the Volunteer Signup Genius if you can help. THANK YOU! We could not do it without so many wonderful volunteers! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D44ABAA2FAAFDCE9-joola3
Parking at Western Regional Park
The Pickleball courts at Western Regional Park (WRP) are open for play until 10:30pm however the parking lots close at dusk.
If you plan to play at WRP after dusk, be sure to park your vehicle outside of the gates to the park (park near the library or the Glenwood Community Center). Otherwise your vehicle will be locked inside the park when the gates close at dusk.
