I have three topics to pass on to our members this week.

  1.  Spring League Survey

Our association is considering organizing a skill based, ladder driven, pickleball league for Women’s, Men’s and Mixed doubles.  We are working to create a league where your performance elevates you to play people of similar or better performance, thus the ladder.  We envision a league that is flexible to allow for substitutes and self-scheduled make-up games to accommodate unpredictable circumstances and commitments.  Standings would come out once a week. You can register for two teams if you so desire, gender based and mixed. We anticipate the cost to be around $10 per team to cover the cost of pickleballs and incidentals. The league will likely start around mid-April.

We are using the following Doodle poll to identify the potential participants and their preferences of play during the week or weekend.  The schedule, format and location will be determined later based on the number of participants and the majority’s preferences identified via the survey.  If you are interested, please provide your preferences using the following doodle poll:

We will have a more formal registration process at a later time once we iron out the details based on the information gathered now.

2.  Coalition Support Email

First off, thanks to the 12 people who sent emails to their village CA board member.  We were hoping to get 4 or 5 emails per village in support for the CA Pickleball & Tennis Coalition.  At present five villages have 2, three villages have 1 and two villages have 0.  If you live in Columbia and have not sent an email, please consider reviewing the email sent on Feb. 6th with the title:  "Next Step in Promoting More Pickleball Venues" and then send a short email in support of our position.  The email provides a draft memo you can use as a starting point.  There's also a link to finding your CA village rep name and email.  This would be extremely helpful in supporting our efforts to expand pickleball in Howard County.

3.  Doodles for Next Week's Indoor Play

We have no one to setup the schools on Monday so we will only be offering Thursday evening 6:30pm to 9pm next week for the school cafeteria. Here's the doodle to register:

Here's the doodle for the first Saturday in March 9am to 1pm at Lake Elkhorn Middle School:

Please remember that if you receive an email from the website (it will have our logo embedded) this will also be available in the Announcement page on the website.
