Change in Terminology - Our association has decided to change our terminology from "Drop-in Play" to "Open Play" to lessen any confusion with any other organization. As with any change it may take a little while to get used to but eventually we will get the hang of it. As we are working with both Howard County Recreation and Parks as well as Columbia Association, we have experienced a difference in how the term "Drop-in" is being used. To avoid this confusion, we will be revising the way we refer to our organized play sessions that are open to all our members as well as the public who would like to learn more about our sport and our organization.
Bundle up for PB this morning - Looks like we will have our first really cold day to play outdoor pickleball. Barry will be setting up the Oakland Mills Ice Rink courts for open-play this morning starting at 10 am for all skill levels. If you registered for our individual tournament, this will be held at the Owen Brown Tennis Club. Joe & Steve will be preparing the courts around 9 am and warm-up starts at 9: 30 am. We have rented a portable toilet for the weekend at the Owen Brown Tennis Club since the CA tennis office is closed for the season. It's located just outside the entrance. It will be available both for our tournament event and our Pickleball Potluck Social on Sunday. Please remember, there will be no open-play for intermediate to advance skills at either Locust Park or Vantage Park due to the individual tournament this morning.
Last PB Potluck Social for 2019 - Sunday looks like a much nicer day to play pickleball. The association is hosting a PB Social on Sunday afternoon, 11/10/19, from 1 pm till we are done. The association will be ordering pizza around 2 pm based on the number who register. Please bring an appetizer or a dessert to share along with your preferred beverage. The association will supply plates, napkins and utensils as well as tables for the food. We are requesting a $5 donation per person to help offset the cost to be paid in cash or check made out to HCPA on site. Please use the following doodle to sign-up for the event. We will also use the information from the registration doodle to determine how many additional nets need to be setup, so if you intend to join us please use the doodle sign-up.
