HCPA Opening Day 2017

Our first Annual Opening Day for the Howard County Pickleball Association was a success and everyone enjoyed the pickleball games as well as the breakfast treats shared by several of the participants.  We set up at 9:30am and was in full swing at 10am and went till 12:45 pm with lots of enthusiastic pickleheads.  Several new members attended as well as our regulars. The weather was a bit cooler than anticipated but with the sunny day it warmed up toward the end.  We played on four courts behind the Oakland Mills Ice Rink and had approximately 26 players at one time. We played to 9 points to turn the courts over so no one had to wait too long.  The wind provided an extra challenge for getting be balls in the court but the players were up to the challenge.  We had a great turn out of food to share, with French Toast, Sausage Egg and Cheese Sliders, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Scones, Donut Holes and Butterscotch Brownies just to name a few items.  Thanks to all who contributed to our food table.  Duane announced that the association was hoping to purchase athletic t-shirts with our logo and website on the front and back respectively; provided we get over 24 orders.  See the website for more details and to order your t-shirt.  Duane also handed out the car magnets the association is giving out to our members.  If you haven’t received one yet, see Duane at the next outside session.  With the weather getting nicer we should have more opportunities to play outside.      Enjoy the pictures of our first annual event.
